Not sure which type of thermal label is best for you?

Direct thermal labels do not require a ribbon during printing. They have a special coating that reacts to heat. The image is burnt onto your label by your printers print head. Because of this, direct thermal labels are sensitive to sunlight and other heat sources.

Transfer thermal labels require a thermal transfer ribbon during printing. The ribbon transfers ink onto your labels. Thermal transfer labels are more robust than direct thermal labels and can be used in environments where there is likely to be exposure to sunlight, heat, and chemicals. Thermal transfer labels do not scratch as easily as direct thermal labels.
